CHANNEL SEVEN CHRISTMAS PAGEANT
HELD SUNDAY DECEMBER 6th 2009

What happened?

The Ancient Egypt Society of WA once again participated in the Channel Seven Christmas Pageant, with 20 members and friends joining our walking group for our tenth anniversary in the Pageant. Thanks to all who were involved. We had Princesses, soldiers, ladies-in-waiting, and a new character: a mummy !! The children received us with great enthusiasm, calling out ‘Mummy, mummy!!’ and demanding ‘high fives’ from little Jasmine and friends. Thanks must go to Valerie for making some new costumes, and to her make-up artistry class members. The girls did a fantastic job with our make- up. Not easy to do a mummy !!! We would like to thank them very much for their professionalism. Kim kindly mended our long-suffering chariots and spruced them up for the event, thanks to you too Kim, for mending, storing and bringing them along for us in your trusty Holden chariot. The Pageant was held during the daytime, which meant braving some heat, and people being exposed to my scary wrinkles- even the mummy bandages can’t hide them all !! It is admittedly much more dramatic and magical at night time, and we missed the big crowds.

We intend to join the Pageant for the eleventh time in 2010, and you are welcome to join us in whatever capacity you can. Some boyfriends, fathers and brothers would be a welcome addition to our numbers- we are running short of charioteers and soldiers. Seamstresses are welcome to contact Becky and Valerie for a sewing bee in the winter months, as we would like to make some new and different costumes. Please keep a watch on our website www.aeswa.org.au for updates.
